The origin of today Universidad Nacional Agraria goes back to 1901. During the government of President Eduardo López de Romaña the National School of Agriculture and Veterinary was planned and organized with the participation of a belgian mission that arrived in Peru in July 1901, composed by the engineers Jorge Vanderghem, Enrique Van Hoorde, Víctor Marie y Juan Michel, as well as the veterinarian Médico Veterinario Arturo Declerck. |
LThea inauguración oficial was on July , 22 of 1902 as a department of the Direction of Promotion, being minister of the area Don Eugenio Larrabure Unanue. In 1912 the Agronomical Central Station was created with the purpose of developing the agricultural experimentation and help the agriculturists. This es how before achieving 15 years of foundation, the school is already an institution that applies the three principal targets of the university : Teaching, Research, and extention.
The primer local assigned to the school was a stand from Santa Beatriz foundation, where it worked for 30 years. In 1933 it was transferred to La Molina foundation, in Valle de Ate, where it works until the current days.
In 1941 of Superior Institution to the School as well as its pedagogical, administrative and economic autonomy.
In 1960, the Universitarian Law 13417, acknowledges the category of university to the National School of Agriculture, for this reason the name was changed to Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina up to the present. (La Molina Agrarian National University).In 1961, the following faculties began to work as academic organisms : Agronomy, Zootechnique, Agricultural Engineering and also the Institute of Advanced Studies and Research. In the same year the university created the Faculty of Science and also Social and Economic Science which was later changed for Social Science and finally for Planification and Economy. Both faculties began simultaneously a the beginning of 1962.
In 1963 the Faculty of Forestry, started to work, in 1966 the Faculty of Fishing, and in 1969 the Faculty of Nourishment Industries.
Later the university organized the Institutes of Sierra, of Yungle, and Forestry Investigatin as centers for teaching and investigation which comprise related fields to many faculties for the study of specific problems.
Its working structure considers departamentalization as an academic unit; research, teaching, and social projection nucleus which group profesors that cultivate related disciplines under a flexible curriculum system.
Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina is ruled by Ley Universitaria No. 23733 (Universitarian Law N° 23733) promulgated the 9th of December 1983 which reimplants the system of faculty, keeps the Academic Departments and gives freedom to each university to organize and establish its own academic system according to its characteristics and necessities.
According to the universitarian law in force, the government of universities and faculties works by means of: University Assembly, Universsity Council, Principal, and, Faculty and Dean Council.
